We have a hot tub. I went to check it the other day and it was dead. It turns out the main Buss fuse had blown - 30 amp slow blow ceramic fuse. At the time it would have gone, I think only the circulation pump and/or heater would have been on. These are relatively new (under 12 months) although that is not to say they aren't a problem.
These fuses are around £5 each (https://www.hottubdiy.co.uk/sc-30-amp-main-buss-fuse.html) so I am cautious of just popping a new one in and waiting for it to blow as something comes on.
What are the chances it blew because it is old? - 20 years at least looking at the age of the tub which we inherited from the previous owners when we bought our current place.
Any advice as to how I can check pumps etc are ok without turning them on? I can check they are free moving. Heater element?
The tub was poorly maintained by the previous owners - had a number of leaks and knackered old noisy pumps. I have fixed (replaced in the case of pumps) all of these, but the conditions under the tub would have frequently been wet and humid (the electrics are all raised so could never be dunked in water but it would have been humid) which wont have done anything any good. It isnt like this any more and is dry under there but I mention to give you an idea of the condition of the thing in the hands of the PO.
