I've just started out and I don't have a welding table and at the moment I don't have the space to add another table to my workshop. However, I do have a sturdy wooden workbench with a concrete forming plywood(*) top.
I understand that it is a fire hazard to use the workbench as is, but would it be advisable to put a metal sheet (e.g. aluminium) on top of it to use it as a welding table?
At my basement workshop I could also weld on the tiled floor (which is remarkably level/even), but at my garage the floor is a pretty crappy pored concrete one.
Or many you have Any other ideas to what to use as a working surface for welding?

(*) I had to Google this as I didn't know the English term. In Flemish we call it "betonplex" and it is plywood with a dark layer at one side and a anti-slip coating at the other side.
