silage cribs

finally started these silage cribs for a standard donnelly trailer. such a pile of work just to sheet the sides and too fiddle with the back door some more and finish the clasp. no mig all arc welding. using 2" 3mm wall box. what ye think

did you weld them on or are they bolted
those automatic latch looked like a pain to get right most of the ones I have seen work on a lever type system and I have no idea how you would work it all out
but nice work should do the business all right

bolted on has to be a normal trailer for 364 days of the year, silage trailer for 1 day. ya bit of a pain alright, will telll the tail when i tip it. ill put up some better pics when it finished

I suppose there is quite a bit of trial and error working that one out keep an eye out for the better pics

cracked a bottle of miller over it today. one pipe left to shorten a weld a washer on but at half 6 i discovered not a welding rod in the house. heres the pics on in my opinion the greatest tractor of all time, even tho its not mine, the famous fiat-agri 110-90

heres a curious question. finished pics on page 1of this tread. how much would be a decent wage for producing such an item? all done very well, and a fair days work for a fair wage. took 3 weeks working 6-10 in evenings and a couple of midnights

As for a fair wage i dont really know the going rate for such work...BUT,,,i do know a lot of different tradesmen...sparkies,chippies,plumbers etc and none of them will leave there house for less than £15 an hour!
A very good mate is a maintainance electrician for a large building company and he gets £25 ph on a self employed call out basis!!
I must be in the wrong job!

my guess would be around €20 an hour plus materials and you wouldn't be expensive at that they wouldn't get it done cheaper anywhere and look what the trailer is worth now

if you charge minimum wage then you'll get a minimum wage and you have done a very nice job on that trailer

but don't forget he gets no holiday/sick pay, finds his own tax NI, files his returns and pays an accountant, put a workshop and its overheads into the equation and £25 wouldn't even hit the B/E point.....

chances are most employees are far better off ££££ wise dont know many S/E who dont work 7 days even if its just invoiceing on a sunday, most of us only are only self employed because we like being right, and are no longer employable

the problem is on this kind of job, big co.s (Richard Weston, Marston etc) will produce much cheaper than you can work for, if a shop was produceing that day in day out they would get the build to a couple of days, with everything being cut and profiled......

I hadn't added up the hours you would probably do the next one and half the time I would consider that about four to five days work i know it would probably take me longer as well material cost I would guess around 6 to €700
I would be looking for 12 to €1400 depending on how I was paid

and if you want to work for €15an evening I'll gladly take you on

right 5 sheets of box cladding 14` long, 4 sheets of <> weldmesh 8`by4` and 10 lenghts of medium gauge 2" box 1 lenght of inner sleeve box and 3 lengths of 2" angle came to €870. 100 EURO FOR PAINT 50 FOR WELDING RODS. 100 MICELLIOUCES, NUTS BOLTS DISCKS TEXS ETC. used medium gauge as light gauge means fanny tittling with 2.5mm rods

do i get a mug a tea with the 15?? two sugars ?
