its a husky v twin looking at it its a fair copy of a 20s harley id say better engineered of course
just managed to reclaim the mazac oil pump threads and make hybrid fittings

What's with the ex pipes running through the g/box casting? Keeping the oil warm?

Bit of fred drift. Client wanted a decent ride on lawn mower. Chose a Husky, so I duly found the dealer and purchased it. Just curious, I sniffed around it and found a plate.. It was a badged US Lawn Master. Nothing wrong with that, just the power of advertising.

Any chance of some shots from further away? And what date is it?

I had to double check when I saw that, but it does indeed appear to have a cast-in hole for the exhaust pipe to pass though.

got the oil pipes bent and hybrid fittings silver soldered up, well its a start
i wonder what butchery will be revealed
the rear wheel looks like ,harley or similar with both expanding and contracting band
the eagle eyed will see its got a mix of beaded edge and wired rims
it was bought in germany im told
has a lovely new heat bended exhaust with a cast alloy collector wit a bypass valve to make more din
the front bend on the pump couldnt be made using my usual 8mm cunifer
i had to rummage for an old bit of heavy wall copper and heat and bend

theres a very pretty bosch magdyno on it
that il be sorting out

there is a silencer under the gearbox, box looks like a copy of an SA CS, monkey metal B & L oil pump, I have one that I held back together with araldite, still working! valve lifter looks very AJS ish,

P.S. I am looking for 48 spoke 22" (for 28 x 3 tyres) rims, found one NOS!

aye its horrid stuff the lad that owns it handed me a brand new pump but it was only realy the threads that were stripped carefully drilled it and tapped both 1,/2 x26 tpi and silver soldered up pukka fittings

ive seen that mazak on dixie magneto bases that just crumbled to nowt

Here's one I spotted at Tobbaco Dock in 2015 with a Husky crosser engine in it!
Not quite as nice as that old bike you've got though.

was working on the husky today the yank style twistgrips had a terrible action so dismantled them and welder to the rescue !,the slot that the pin with the roller was horribly worn , with the aid of a bit of copper pipe as a backing chill i built up carefully around the slot , with the trusty metabo and a small worn disc i brough it to near size then carefully finished it with a,chainsaw file and flat files the throttle is smooth as now with no lumps ,never been a fan of them, honda 50s used them always feel a bit vague
next job fuel and oil pipes for the aux hand pump , it has the facility to use the supply to oil the chain i had to rumage through a bucket of old pipe fittings and remove them clean out the soft solder then silver solder
to the pipes


and in between my mate appeared with his grumph ,greeves 3ta triumph had to make a set of siamesed ones out what he had
it was very tight to get them nicely tucked in

got the clutch ,relined ,fantastic job done by the TAFFIA " clutch cork carvery " set up the g,box output bearing retoothed the

sprocket , and rewound the bosch magdyno

when i removed the primary chain and rocked the crank i felt an ominous clunk
sounded like a trashed big end so out comes engine , removed the barrels an i found the culprit ,there was obvious damage fron a previous blow up , pistons at one time had pinch bolts to hold the gudgeonpins in place they had broken the bosses and gouged the front bore and had been shot peening everything within,someone had fitted circlips t

o hold the pins but with just a sliver of cast holding them it was a time bomb
after a day spent measuring up and raking through pistons we settled for Kubota d722 diesel ones ,, lots of alloy on top to machine to the compression height and a big pin boss diameter we can bush to suit the half inch pins ,they are 67 mm so its a 2 mm over bore it will get rid of the pin damage
and theres still plenty on the barrels
front small end eye will need honed to a size and a new bush made unbelievable the big end feels fine so all is not lost
front barrel gouge had been filled by jb weld
or similar that had broken up its amazing
that people get takin in by all the hype ,

had another session on the husky totaly stripped the bottom end to ckeck the big end , it turned up a plethoria of abuse

big end was in real good nick but the rest was not
chipped pinion
3of 4 cam followers with big flats cams ok
loose camshaft bushes
bent con rods , very common on old bikes !

straightend the rods with the 3 nut technique and a big vice

gave them a bit of a polish to clean up some of the FOD from the previous blow up
and found a wee crack just waiting to grow

it wouldnt file out so ive dye pend it and il have to dig it out and tig it with zeron or 625 wire keeping the heat down and peening it ,i dont have any other option
