Got it all going in the end. John Deere parts are rather cheap respectively but we needed a few! Still need to get the bonnet fixed, keep telling them to dry store it but they insist on leaving it outside thinking it’s as durable as a tractor.

must admit wish someone would dump one in that condition on me , agreee you put the work in, but the second hand cost of a good runner is pretty high in comparison,well done yo anyways , maybe a tarp would help keep it in better nick?

Not clearing cuttings kills them, the moisture is kept in contact with the deck etc. That and a mixture of soil and grass is far more abrasive than you think, wears everything out

Librarians lung, caused by mould spores and dust, many years ago I had a job modifying some racking in an archive and had to wear a respirator before disturbing any of the paperwork.

We called it "bookseller's flu".
Its quite unpleasant.

I've mentioned it before on here - i i always just called it "bookseller flu".

charty shops get the same ive seen a few people walk acress the road after going to trade stuff in in cex walk across the road and hand all the broken, scrached items they have left over to the charity shop

I'd never heard of "CEX" before now.
Looked it up, and it's right in the centre, on The Horsefair.

I must have gone past it twice today too - but at about 5am.
I bet it's been there for years, but I guess I've been very un-observant for sighly longer than that!

Bottle of MEK. Need to work out what plastic containers it is safe in, I need to put a small amount with abs to make a paste.

Dangerous stuff, don't breathe it, and in vapour form its highly explosive. I recall back in 1978 I think it was, I was doing construction work at Lockheed's Burbank aircraft facility; painters in one of the buildings were using MEK to clean machinery etc. and something lit off the vapours blowing the place up killing two men; there were body imprints on a wall. Methyl-Ethyl-Keytone does have fantastic cleaning properties, but can also cause liver problems, so be very careful !

I use my Wife's empty plastic nail polish remover bottles to transfer Meth Spirits into as they are more robust and have a better quality seal for camping stove use than the normal thin plastic containers Meth Spirits comes in. This type of container was designed to store Acetone, so may be suitable for your purpose.

I will only ever be using tiny amounts at any time, outside, for plastic repairs, and the smell is extremely unpleasant.

A vintage all brass & metal Laboratory phase contrast compound microscope in mint condition, with correct and all matching accessories and optics.
Have a feeling our 11 year old Great Niece is going to want to have a look at some bugs.

Like the electrics, guess that's a repair job next.

Check you CO2 the horn is bent, it may leak liquid CO2 from the connection when used. Not a good thing.

Not sure if I posted on here but the church I go to was gifted a ride on mower - told there was an oil leak and intermittent starting but replaced a spark plug seemed to help. Oh joy. Both plugs were fouled so I got new. On removing the cover I was greeted with this filth. Mice had made a nest in the mower and stuffed the cooling fins with grass which had gone unnoticed as the previous owner thought servicing was a waste of time. Basically it overheated and then there was an oil leak, and it would appear a small fire! The drain plug pipe was cracked presumably because someone used it as a step, oil leak one down. New head gaskets, valve guides reinserted into the heads, push rods were bent and had to be straightened, made up some new rocker gaskets and then onto the fuel/carb, lines were perished and sending rubber into the system, tank was full of perished rubber and grass, had to flush it all out and put a new filter on, the air filter was a sorry mush of fuel soaked sponge. Smoked horribly on startup - underneath the heat shield another oil soaked mouse nest on the exhaust silencer! No fried mice anywhere lol. Cost $200 to fix not accounting my time but I give them that for free. It annoys me when people use the church as an alternative to the dump.

Aye, that stuff sets like concrete if left - that's why it was a rule that all machines were hosed clean after every use when I was at the greenkeeping.

Today I acquired, thanks to a kind Member over on another forum, one of these with all the fittings, which is now surplus to requirements as he's ordered a new car with in-built cameras.

This is what I currently have, an A805



Now I just have to sort out where I'm going to locate it - all the cabling is in place for the current one, piggy-backed off the fuse board in the boot. I might move it to the upper o/s corner as it has no inbuilt screen, but I'm going to go back to when he fitted it in his car and did a very comprehensive write-up & review at the time.

His generous offer came at just the right time as the rear-facing one I have has either gone on strike or gone to that big camera graveyard in the sky.
