What's a 3 vin?
It's a vcds (vag com diagnosis software) which is able to be used on 3 different vin numbers.
(Ie 3 different cars)
10 vins is 10 cars.
Then unlimited for garage or full access players etc.
What's a 3 vin?
I presume it will allow you to use on 3 cars and is limited by the vehicles VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) so you can only use it on 3.
Correct... 3x VIN = three cars 5x VIN = five cars.
Which if you are a family man - repairing your own family cars - is enough.
Where today at my workshop I plugged three VAG cars in for diagnostics in the first hour of work.
Not sure what happens if you sell your family car and buy another VAG car? Do not know how this works? As I have only bought VAGCOM - VCDS unlimited products.
Tb / inlet manifold very oily.
Going to buy some cleaner now.
can’t see where the air temp sensor is or map/maf.
But then even if you buy the smaller ones you can pay and get them unlocked to the next stages if needed.
Thats good - did not know that.
Rosstech - you cannot imagine the depth I have gone into asking them questions via email over the years - they always answer - you always get an email back with a link to usefull info - or "cut and paste" content to answer your question.
They are a good company - it did not supprise me to learn "you could upgrade at your will".
Had a major issue earlier in the year trying to splice abs pumps from various vehicles from one to another without ecu and dash also. Coding was incomplete and wouldn't work with coding help.
Sent them the full log with complete scan and just got an email back within 48hrs with
Here you go try "*********" let us know how you get one.
Worked first time and got the vehicle back on the road. Was bliss and really helpful.
So...? Brad93
How did you get on? Do you need my very expensive Palladium Dunhill Rollagas lighter + petrol? And before you say it - "auto electricians earn too much" - you are just finding out why we charge so much?
Is this a 1.4 16V or 1.4 8V - do you know the engine code?
If you give me this info I will tell you where the map/maf is?
Well I’ve cleaned the Throttle body, (as per photos above) which was filthy with oil but only a light covering, I’ve found the coolant sensor, checked the wiring to that, all seems okay. Pulled it out and it appears in good condition.
Took car out while getting a data stream.
Bare in mind IAT was 45°C yesterday and only got to 30° on a 5 mile drive today.
Not a single issue. It really needs to be a hot day with a 15+ mile drive to get the issues it seems.
My IAT temps seemed to be normal starting at 20°C and rose as engine temperature rose, coolant temp never went above 82°C.
MAP was around 22kPa-32kpa whilst idleing.
Everything appears normal.
I haven’t checked the earth lead from battery yet but I will add an additional earth to the gearbox tomorrow.
Can you buy the software on its own or do you need to buy their interface. But then even if you buy the smaller ones you can pay and get them unlocked to the next stages if needed.

I just want to find out why my Passat keeps saying engine fault workshop for the first minute of driving with the glow plug light flashing.Their lead is for their interface but can get a clone lead for the vcds lite for very few bits.
It depends on how in depth you want to go as vcds will do coding and programming really deep rather than a generic code reader just to try and clear a code.
