thick wall tube 1 3/4" bore wanted

I am looking for some, at least 3" but ideally say up to a meter, off cuts fine, it is to protect the end of the ram in my press, the original cast iron cap was broken by someone at work, I need to make a new one plus extension pieces and tool holders etc. I need something that would clean up to 1 3/4" bore, the thicker the wall the better,

Best I could do is 48mm OD tube, 4mm thick. Heaps of it lying around though.

just a bit too small, ideally would like around 6mm wall with a 44.5mm bore so 55-60mm OD, this is the ram end that is getting bashed about,

Scaffold tube is just over 48mm OD. No shortage of that...

you could use 3000lb socket weld fittings
perhaps 1.5 bore or go to someone who uses heavywall schedule 160 pipe
mb industrial scrapyard near a refinery or similar

I am 99.9% sure that you will find that sort of thickness/diameter is used to make hydraulic cylinders, I will be dump diving in the skip at my local hydraulics shop next week and see if I can find something.

Thanks, my local hydraulic guy closed down, Colin the ram, he was in the next road to my old business, there was also a chemical blacking and hardening outfit, gone, and Ashbys chrome platers, gone, now flats, where is anyone supposed to be able to ponce bits!

I've got a couple of empty oxygen bottles from my oxy-propane set lying in the shed, they'd be around that size. Want me to measure when I'm out next?

I've found 450mm of 62mm OD odd 52 ID if it's any use.
I can cut it to the size you need or you can have the lot for the postage.

it is the internal bore and remaining wall after cleaning out to 1 3/4" or 44.5mm that is important to me, I can bore out to a clearance size but would need to weld a cap or socket onto the bottom so need a bit of wall,

thanks, took a look but the bit he has is too large ID, will keep looking, or I will have to make from solid but as I want a few different versions I find it hard to be motivated..... tried to push a rusted in girder fork spindle out at the weekend, milled about 1" down the spindle to get a start, put a 6" length of 9/16" stainless rod into the hole but it kept cocking off sideways, bent the rod twice, moved the spindle 1/4", it the rod were fixed to the ram it would have had a better chance! left it for another day....

Thanks for the offer, almost ideal but the bore is too large and would not be solid on the ram, I often do unconventional things using my press, no HSE here so don't want a floppy ram extension!

Ahh, the bottle ID would be too big then but they're surprising thick at 2.5mm for the wall.

took a trip to our local scrap yard to drop off some er scrap and look for tube, came away with a 1920's steel artillery wheel and a bit of just the job tube, until I got it home, 2" bore...…..

The ebay guy has a lot of stuff not listed. If he does not have tube, he has round bar upto 100mm dia at a good price that you could drill and bore out. I have about 5 meters of bar from him, some big peices of plate and square bar.
