do i need a mig??

right heres the deal, learned arc at 10 was at it always in spare time, im all positional since i was 12ish. was up at steel stockholder priced a butters for 600 euro was a 180 amp, when i told him i want something capable of welding at least 1/2 he pointed me towards the direction of unmig252 1200 euro, plus gas plus wire. i dunno i can arc weld nearly as fast as a man can mig, so is there anypoint in me getting it. i have no prob welding paper thin metal either with arc. is it a waste?

I don't think you can beat ark for the heavy stuff but I wouldn't mind having mig lying around for welding light box iron it would also be good for welding in a trailer floor and don't forget you have a lot less fumes

im asmthaic too but ya gotta love the fumes ha ha :P light box is a pain very dooable but a pain. have a massive tread too put up scarecrow on the cribs for that donnelly silage trailer i gots 90% made. the last hurdle is taking ages :P

i'm a massive fan of stick but if you want light material done quicker, great for poor fit up, but take care as, a good looking stick weld is usually a good sorta weld with mig it could just be penetrating one or none parent metals, done properly its good.

I personally hate light box especially the fillets as there is very little room for error too small a rod and it sticks to one side to large a Rod and you end up with a bloody great big hole
