I stand (extremely) corrected; I assumed that diesels were less environmentally damaging. I believe catalytic converters in SI cars produce high levels of NOx. I also worked for 12 years in diesel machine underground mines and with a lot of very large machines, and we never came close to PM or gas occupational exposure limits even in poorly ventilated areas. BUT I am not well informed (merely opinionated my wife tells me) in this field, so I apologise for my assumption. And I will keep an eye out for a new thread on this topic, sorry to have helped so much to hijack this one.

Underground mines are a whole different ball game - at least in UK and I would assume Australian H&S rules are just as stringent, if not more so.
CI engines for this service must meet much more stringent emissions standards and also have a completely different specification fuel (much more expensive). Underground CI engines were some of the first to be fitted with DeNOx catalysts and Diesel Particulate Filters.

Shame you're not in WA, my diesel forklift is for sale. First offer over $5000 gets a clean burning (for an oil burner ) 1.8t diesel forklift in perfect working order. Ah well.

I don't recall anything special on the ehaust side the Elphinstone boggers (Caterpillar low profile front end loaders) I used, certainly nothing that contained a changeable filter, although there may have been a catalytic converter of sorts I guess. The exhausts never failed at the discharge end, so I never asked the question. The fuel was standard pump diesel, we don't have coloured fuel here.

Might give the perspex a miss. Rain comes sideways at our place anyway. Pointless giving it a roof!

gaffer tape will give away when it gets wet better of to get a little bit of light leather and a tube of super glue it will last much longer with all the moment of getting in and out

Thats how its supposed to be, It shows where the internal siphon tube is, that looks exactly the same as a truck I had, yours is in better condition, good machine though, converted land rover engine i think,

Mine was quite old, the handbook was written in latin. they tend to keep the same chassis and upgrade the mechanics on these things.

Presume the flt lpg bottles are all the same size/capacity?

Will ring round to see where nearest delaer is. According to Calors website, the nearest dealer is a garden centre. Don't think they will stock flt bottles!

We had a real struggle finding one the otherday! Loads of dealers listed on the calor site, like you say though, doubtfull weather the corner shop will stock flt cylinders!
Flogas is another option....
I think they are normally 12kg and 18kg cyls...

Flogas nearer. And they stock them. I shall be calling them tomorrow. Why doesnt a normal propane bottle work when its on its side?

would be in a partial liquid state would it not? buy a couple of 47s stand em upright in your workshop and put a couple of long hoses on, could even get some air over oil servos and stand by your bottles whilst driving the truck, by remote control wouldn't get wet then.......

I'm not sure about LPG being used as a combustive fuel, But i cut with a LPG cylinder on its side with no difference from being vertical and its definitely a gas and not a liquid when it comes out of the nozzle

You need to withdraw liquid to run the engine do you not??
