last month it was carpet beetles moved the beds and draws etc hoovered everywhere and sprayed all the rooms and removed them this morning came down to a load of ants on the coffee table after the bowl of sweets they were getting in through a small hole in the bottom of the door casing .dusted the hole with ant killer powder and squashed what we found in house . in all about 100 in 4 hours . nip it in the bud. if it had been spiders the dog takes care of them during the night come down on a morning and just see dead carcases on the carpet in front of the tv and telephone cabinets hese quick

Thought this was going to be about in laws We had a line of ants coming into the kitchen through a 2mm gap in the window mastic. They were dismantling a dead wasp. I threw the wasp out and sealed the hole to cure the problem.

These are very very effective.
I don't like using them too much though - ants not so bad really.

I opened a cupboard a few weeks ago and a mouse was sitting on a shelf looking at me!
It took off and I saw it run across the carpet in the living room, I put two traps down with peanut butter.
It ate all the peanut butter off the traps without setting them off, I rebaited them and it ate all the peanut butter
off one and the second one got it. I guess I had fattened it up a bit.
A few days later I saw a bit of movement, another mouse. this time the second trap got it.

The traps seem really sensitive.

Not in the house but in the garden compost bin we had a rat. I could see his run so I set a trap baited with peanut butter and tied it down with a peg and wire and morning after it was in there with its head flattened. Next day our neighbour said he had seen another one abseiling down his bird feeder. I lent him the trap but it caught a bird so we took it back in. I saw the rat in his stone wall coming out to feed and he okayed me shooting it with the air rifle so I got the antique BSA Cadet and .177 pellets out of the wardrobe and kept an eye out for it. Next day it was out again so I leaned on the top of the wall and watched it a bit till it got a bit cocky and was sat looking back at me then I shot it and shouted him to get the shovel. I've still got traps in the compost but nothing has set them off for a few days now. I can recommend the Screwfix rat traps, easy to set and bait and emptying them is clean as well. Not as much fun as shooting them though.

Nipon was the gear, they’ve changed the ingredients and its not so good these days.

Borax is the stuff to use, mix 1tspn with 3 of sugar dissolve in water. Soak cotton wool and place where ants are. It may take a few days, but it WILL kill the nest.

Peanut butter works best for me when the cats do their "catch and release" thing (catch it outside, release it inside...)

You need to kidnap next doors cat for couple of days and put it on a starvation diet as its getting to fat, purely for its own good of course...

Nutella works too.

There actually is a cat that roams around, my housemates always let him in and about an hour before I saw the mouse yesterday, the cat (Billie ) had gone for him but he shot under the kitchen cupboards. I was just being told this story when the mouse appeared out from under the sofa I was sat on!

well managed to kill the army . no more today I don't mind ants as long as there not in the house . there interesting to watch. one must have come in and scouted round and found the sweets up on the table god knows how mind they climbed up the table leg. once one finds something they leave a trail smell to follow and all the rest arrive was watching them all coming in and didn't deviate of the trail and all were in line formation .pretty clever. really soldier ants

We were in Greece one time & when walking through a olive grove, spotted a line of ants, it was like a dual carriageway, one line going one line coming back. I followed it to see how far they went & found it went several hundred yards. These were big ants, but when you consider the size of the ants against the distance, pretty amazing really.

On patrol in Kenya and in a bit of an opening, and we could see like this black carpet to our front a bit of a distance other of a river, watched it and other things and looked back, and suddenly realised it was moving it was a blanket of soldier ants.

When on Linderman island on the Barrier reef I went into the gents and whilst standing there I saw the most remarcable battle between huge ants and a huntsman spider in the corner of the urinal, it ended up with the ants killing the spider and carrying it off in parts, presumably for tea. I was too amazed to think they could have been creeping up on me to!!
