Mine also soft and the black phosphate is now like a grey vapour blast finish.Bahco is (or was) definitely Swedish. As Brad93 said, they are owned by Snap-on and I believe some of their stuff is now made in Spain. Snap-on also bought Spanish manufacturer Irimo, and whilst 2+2 doesn’t equal 5 I strongly suspect there’s a link. Having said that, I bought a pair of Irimo pliers recently that were made in China....
The Bahco shifters definitely aren’t as good as they used to be. The jaws seem to bruise easily, my newest one seems very soft, not like the old ones. Next time I buy one I’ll try an Irega (still made in Spain) or cough up for a Unior.

I like the angled head on it, Can imagine that being useful in certain situations
