Tin snips for small fingers

Hi All. I have a friend whos struggling to use tin snips. she has small hands and probably lacking in strength to sum degree. Are there some geared or maybe handles that are closer together , some how. any suggestions. cheers rob

aviation snips are geared, but the handles arn't closer together. if you look for jewellers tin snips they have smaller dimensions than normal tin snips, but are suitable for thinner sections of metal as they have less leverage

I think they are the same as these eclipse ones, and I've got small hands. I tried then on some 1.0mm thick steel this morning and that was as thick as I'd want to go with them

Look at Bessey D15 series. Small aviation snips cuts 1mm steel with ease.

As optima21 has said, compound action snips require the least effort but tend to have longer handles so can be awkward if you have small hands.

They’re also quite small so easy to operate. I actually prefer them to my aviation snips, they’re great for 1mm body steel.

What is your lady friend cutting and what technique is she using?

Put one handle in the vice and then she can use her body weight instead of her grip strength.

willie has a good idea, if not what about a small bench shear, if it would be adaptable to the type of work she's doing?. the throatless shears can cut really closely and cuts can turn on a sixpence..

bung em in a vise , and put a pipe on the top handle ,,, cut most things all day ,
failing that id say go electric shears / nibbler , but that gets expensive , and still not small either.
depending on what shes trying to cut , say copper for jewellery etc a small bench shear as mentioned above may just be the ticket.

And if money isn't tight Bosch cordless shears are great tool

snips are good , but iffy on a larger sheet , nibbler has its uses too.

Thanks for all the replies. Think some of the problem is shes maxed out on gauge. she is ordering a recommended pair to try. so thanks for all the input
