ok looking at a car thats not turning over as well as it did

the battery was replaced with a cheaper battery when the last one failed the cca amps on the new battery from memery was 640 ca and 700ah ford battery new is 700cca and 800ah

how much differance will that make ? im assuming cca is the inportant one ?

How old is it? Check the alternator is charging correctly and all the connections are tight and clean. Then start looking for a current drain that might be pulling it down

From experience I’ve found cheep batteries to be a waste of time, stick to good brands like Varta, Exide or Bosch.

As above check the basics first no battery will perform if it’s not getting charged properly or you have bad connections.

the battery was replaced only 4 months ago but they did not want to spend much the good battery was twice the price of the one in there now as the people using it never used it often or untill late morning or afternoon was told not good but yes will work

im just looking at it just cheak over ive got a jump starter pack ?i could add that see if it throws over quicker to see if the battery has not enought opmh?

Have you got a multimeter? A fully charged battery should have a voltage around 12.6-12.7v when charging the alternator should produce around 14v

If it’s used infrequently and for short journeys, this could also be an issue.

Problem with voltage reading is it doesn't tell you if it still has the capacity it should have

I'd be checking all leads first.
Does the starter cable heat up?

edit assuming battery isn't already low

This isn't a vehicle that uses stop start AFB/AGM Battery is it?

I would test the Battery to check its condition

hoping its not this the car has been great for years the battery then failed would not hold charge for more then a couple weeks as did not get used much at all at best 2 times a week as it was not used untill later in the day the cca was not as much as a problem but it now takes a couple heating the glow plugs turns and them fires but not as fast as id like especialy as in a few months the weather will be colder and the cca could be more of a problem ?

Are all the glow plugs working, this could be your problem

was never driven much more than 7 miles a few times a week it could get better as its gets driven more but thinking better batter more omph thats why im could think the jumper battery added to show better battery would help ?

Parasitic drains / Alarms etc. could mean that 3 weeks of non-use (lockdown) means it dips to 12 v.
In my case, not enough to start a 2.5L Merc diesel

its full sevice history so assume they been changed as part of the service ?

being as its a diesel then it will make a big difference if you put a smaller battery in.
the manufacturers are very good at working out what a car needs and as a cost excersise the cheapest battery they can get away with.
so putting a smaller one in is nearly always asking for trouble unless you want to sell it

Not necessarily, take the wires off and test them, if you can heat the plugs a couple of times and then there is still enough in the battery to start it, I'd be looking elsewhere
