The Mig synergic setting does have a maximum thickness of 4.0mm. However, this is calculated in a "T" fillet position, so the actual thickness Max setting is 6.0mm. this is because when welding a "T" fillet, you add the plate thickness of one plate to half the thickness of the joining plate.
like most synergic control welding machines, the thickness setting is only a guide and never absolute. this is simply because the machine does not know what type of joint or position you are trying to achieve but it is a good base line setting for the AMPS, VOLTS and WireSpeed that you would normally have to set independently.
In the Manual mode on the Multi Pearl, you do only have to set the welding Voltage and desirable wire speed. the Welding Amperage is determined by the Voltage and wirespeed as the Multi Pearl is a Inverter welding machine.
