I need to reinstate a side access door to a concrete sectional garage at my elderly Fathers house.
In the past at a different property, I’ve used a timber core exterior door blank cut to size; although now, these seem to be far more expensive than I remember
Chip or particleboard core door blanks appear to be the norm and much easier to come by.
However, I’m curious in regard to the strength and whether such a core structure is robust enough to withstand being kicked in.
It’s for an outward opening door, timber frame which I plan to re enforce with an angle iron and also fit hinge bolts due to the spine of the hinges being exposed.
