Just to put my H&S hat on for a second, I’d think very carefully before you buy anything and start chopping things down

Is this with knowledge of your employer? Do they require you to do this or even recognise that this is an issue? Have you reported it to them? Have they given you advice on what to do and more importantly what not to do? Do they provide you with equipment? What happens if you chop through a cable or something?

There may be issues of cutting things down that may leave a mess or fall where they shouldn’t. It may be simple on face value but it’s complicated as soon as any rail infrastructure is involved

My suggestion is to speak with your employer and let them find a solution that been discussed with the rail folk. By all means be a part of the problem solving and solution finding, but don’t do it as a one man band

If and when it goes wrong it will be messy

the smell was bad. I had to work there for a day doing wiring once in after half an hour u got used to it but when u went out for gear and came back in it stunk even worse I was working at the council depot on a hot day all the dustbin wagons in and minging .even worse just to add to it the stink from the tripe factory next door wafting through

That's what I was there doing BS as an apprentice, they had alarms in case of Gas build up horrendous place.
Was asked to supply radios to one once, we declined to quote

It is a nightmare, cutting back.
When we do CCTV installs, we have a lot off considerations to take into account. I am pleased that that side is done through the office and not me.

I did some construction work at a tannery Huddersfield way on. I spent a week there, it didn’t matter how much you stood in the shower and scrubbed the smell never went away. The worst was blowing your nose, it made me gip with the taste.
