garage db change

finaly got round to doing it after 36 years reason being the supply armoured is a 4 core 25mm pretty lousy to get it in to a 2way db. cut the braiding back and the earth wire out of it and made the garage a tt supply and fit an earth rod .everyone beefs on about pme in outbuildings but as long as theres no other services in there its ok if I sell the house it wont cause any problems if it gets tested by someone else who has a different take on it the wiring in shed isn't strictly cosher but its protected and can easily be removed. heres the old and new not the neatest but it was all a tight fit

Does top notch work for all his customers.
I won't even plug my phone in to charge if I go round his house though as most of the socket faceplates are missing at least one screw...

Glad you asked that. I’ve got an outdoor socket to install at the end of the garden and it will only take up to 6mm, 10mm cable already laid. Reason I used 10mm is it’s a eventually a supply for a shed I haven’t built yet.

yes u can do normaly if u use armoured and it goes in to a plastic db you just fit the gland on armoured then run the cores strait through in to db as there still double insulated . the earth and the braiding must be totally isolated if turned in to a tt system

That’s exactly what my sparky mate did in the outbuildings at mine

Ive started terminating the armour 6" inches below using an appropriate sized conduit a and gland looks smart doesnt take up the room of a box

yep the one in the house cost me 12 quid of the back of a wagon just changed it to the metal 17th edition board 72 quid from screwfix
