Just got a mate welding the sills and arches on my Talbot motor home, what would you rust proof the insides with?

Never had good results with Waxoyl, even the can’s gone rusty. I’ve used the big Bilt Hamber S50 aerosols, they come with a 2 foot wand to poke up in the box sections. Not cheap but seem good & easy to use.

Cover a previous unit in ISO32 when the hose blew with a trailer at full tilt. Never saw another speck of rust on it in the 7 years I had it.

Red oxide on the bits you can't paint after it's been welded on before welding them on. Stone chip and plenty of paint. Then plenty of waxoil or dinitrol every year before winter. Sprayed inside as best you can

Id have too agree with you have used waxoil on some of my cars and all it seems to have done is make them rot faster. Good quality paint is the best way too go like this stuff.

For cavities im nit sure whats best probably old engine oil mixed with somethin too thicken it up.

Is Aquasteel the same type of product as Vactan?

Depends on the structure of your sills. If it's got end caps then derust and weld all the rest except for one end (or both) then paint epoxy liberally, making sure that all drain holes are clear. Put an access hole in the end cap/ s and spray more epoxy and then follow it up with dinitrol.
That's what I'm planning to do.

I bought a compressed air powered squirt thing to spray inside the sills etc, it has a long flexi hose, struggled to get rubber bungs for the holes though has to order from China!

I have a can of the original Waxoyl and am thinking about spraying it inside the doors and cills when I get round to swapping back to my summer alloys @ tyres.

I'd be using my small compressor and a parrafin gun, what is best for thinning it after heating to improve the viscosity of the Waxoyl? Thinners?

That's what I'm planning to do.

I wouldn’t try and paint inside sills with a spray extension, thought about it as well. You don’t want a big collection along the bottoms and other areas trapping water/moisture and blocking drain holes etc. Ideally a good well prepped coverage inside the sills would be ideal, real world they might already have rust and you aren’t treating it and no guarantee paint will stick.

White spirit, not thinners. Heat and thinners are a good trip but not good for you.
