Recommendations for workshop roof covering.

Evening all I've noticed today that the roofing felt on my workshop/shed has started to fail after 9 years.
The workshop is approximately 9ft by 18ft and the roof has a 3ft pitch running down the middle.
When I built it I just covered the roof with Wickes cheap roofing felt as a quick fix which has outlived my expectations by a lot.
I've been looking at different options like heavy duty felt, corrugated steel, fibreglass, EPDM rubber. I'm unsure what is better and wondered if anyone has any experience or opinions on what's better.
I've attached a picture to show what roof looks like but it's not the best.

4mm mineral surfaced torch on felt but must be a full SBS and if you can get it use Rose roofing with there Modi torch on system..Best out there. If you want a price on me doing the job then let me know 43 years flat roofing.

Your welcome to send me a ballpark figure of cost. I'm based in Northampton. The lean to area between wooden shed and metal shedbe coming down soon so access will be better.

im a torch on felt man scored 6 rolls free . and got a47kg full bottle of propane given and I have the roof torch . that's the governing factor

Question regarding the EPDM
Can you cut it and reseal for going round corners and stuff?

I've always been a felt and nails lad as that's how my dad hot me repairing his shed when I was 8 years old . Never tried torching felt on is is pretty easy? Working on narrowboats there's always gas bottles around the yards

Question regarding the EPDM
Can you cut it and reseal for going round corners and stuff?

My best suggestion is look at classic bond epdm guides that will answer all questions.


This is a year on


It moves a little in sun then relaxes the adhesive us a latex

pretty easy to make a mess yes[/QUOTE yep once u get the hang of it. been practicing on a few temp patches and was watching the roofing guys doing it at a school I was working at . it wasn't good 1st attempt I overcooked it and it went gooey but now I know the score

I just put battens across the felt, screwed down reclaimed steel roofing sheets - steel protects the felt from the worst of the elements, the felts deal with any water getting through, the battens create an air gap for heat insulation in the sun.

When I had originally build the shed I wanted to use reclaimed steel roofing as love the look but was struggling to find any at the time.
