What's up with the lump?
After turning it over with the starter it seized itself.
Turns out the starter has stuck out and had jammed the flex plate up solid.
so I had to pull the engine out end the box off. With the box off I noticed the starter wasn’t coming out far enough to engage with the ring gear properly because it was hitting the box, so I need to trim the bell housing of the box a little bit. But during all that it would seem the starter has shat it’s pants and now doesn’t work. So inlet has to come off so I can “bench” test it to see if it is hooped or there’s another problem.
might mean I need a new starter motor even though this one has yet to be used in anger and has yet to actually start the thing

chin up Jaffman , the good news is you are addept at pulling /fitting the engine so apart from sourcing said starter and sorting the engagement your nearly there , if I was closer and corona wasnt about would offer a helping hand but know you are more than capable, just think it might not be long before your firing the beast eh ! have a day or three off , re group and you ll be good.
Yeah i know but I’ve got 2 big issues at the moment one is the hubs and I my luck at finding a machinist at the moment is being tested. It’s a delay I didn’t want tbh.
and now everything is apart again to change the starter motor
It’s annoying as the starter motor was new, should have left the old one in there. lol. **Language**ing cars!
I’m being forced to take a few days off anyway as I tried to slice my finger off earlier ...
So I might clean the garage, order the bits I need and wallow in my own self pity
and maybe fix the megane
and now everything is apart again to change the starter motor

Glad to hear you only tried to cut your finger off rather than succeeded!! in doing so , they say bad luck runs in 3s, so hubs,starter and finger means your done and hopefully it will turn around now.

I do find a good clean-up hugely therapeutic. I sometimes wish I had a little less to clean up mind you! Though a bigger broom would help (and I've been saying that for over 2 years now!).

now it runs its worth spending the 30 notes (!) on injector seals , surely if they are copper washers just clean up and anneal ?

i dont want to spend £30 on injector seals when ill be upgrading them at some point.
i may chuck a bit of Vaseline on them and hope they seal themselves up lol

ze germans forced us to use it on all o’rings fitted to their MTU engines where I used to work lol.
it’s cheaper than £30, they’re already rotten, and I’ll be changing injectors soon anyway lol
