Not really sure this is plasma cutter specific, but the problem is occurring in my Portamig Plasma cutter.
Firstly, this is an ancient machine, and has nothing to do with the current owners of the portamig brand...
However, most likely due to age, the main tansformer on the machine is shorting to earth, causing it to trip the RCD (as it should) - on striking the arc, a large flash emerges from within the transformer, and everything goes quiet and dark...
So, given the age and obscurity of the machine, does anyone know a supplier of transformers that may be pressed into service? If so, what do I need to find out about the old one - as there are no markings on it.
Replacement I suspect is going to be unlikley, so I also wondered if anyone could suggest someone who can rewind the existing one?
here's a picture of the machine, just in case it helps:
Any help very much appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
