can anyone explain why there's no 15-16-18 and 20mm combo spanners?
looked on ebay and most dont have them sizes.
looked at prices of individual and its cheaper to buy a set.

18mm isn’t a very common size in England

18mm isn’t he states is a popular size on Jeep Wrangler TJ’s

They are all odd sizes, you can get them but possibly in a large set.
16mm and 18mm, are used a lot on vag cars.

Aldi and lidl have large sets of spanners for sale at times, the sizes will probably be in there sets.

Never needed a 20, but 16 17 and 18 seemed to be almost interchangeable at my last place for an M10 bolt (French made machines) - often in the same machine

I have that set, but with the ratchet ring end, and they are the best I've ever used - a pure joy. Strangely enough my set had 16mm and 18mm, but no 15mm (which is a more common size). I managed to nab a set when they were on offer at a ridiculously low price - About £75 for the set as I recall. These are the ones:

Its cheaper to sell a set with out as most people don't or didn't use them, we see more and more odd sizes , this year I have finally used my 21mm, Bob the 1964 Land Rover has 21mm heater plugs on his 70's Mercedes engine!

Think some of the Fiatcars need a 20 mm spanner for the trackrod end lock nut. Air cooled VW engines use a 15mm headed nut for the cylinder heads so 15mm has been around a long time . Various manufacturers now use 16 and 18mm instead of 17mm

21mm is also equivalent of 7/16" Whitworth, used by scaffolders everywhere.

20mm is not...

On the continent lots of nuts and bolts have differing size heads and nuts ,
eg 12mm bolt 19 mm af nut , 18mm head , I came across this on German equipments ,
Reasoning ,,,,,,, you don't need two spanners the same size in the tool kit , makes sense to me ,

There is a company that makes a set of "tool box " spanners that have the ring and the open end oon each spanner being a different size so one set of spanners can undo a nut and bolt

Yes - I would agree - on German cars - bottom ball joint pinch bolts have a 18mm one end and a 16mm the other.

Glad you said that, thought I was going mad. All my sets have 15-16-18 and they all get used.
