Two deliveries today; first was flat bar, square bar and equal angle for a few projects including putting bars across the inside of the workshop windows. Second was a few bits including some anti-spatter spray.
I've been playing around with the self-shield wire more at home recently, and the jobs I have in mind don't need to be aesthetically pleasing as they're more functional. Not that I could ever describe my welds as aesthetically pleasing, mind...
Thought I'd do a wee test to compare with and without the anti-spatter spray and the results pretty much speak for themselves, especially when it came to welding some 10mm square bar to some 5mm flat bar. Surfaces cleaned up with grinder, same settings on my Paton (18.5V, 6.5m/min) and wire is EWM FCW 71T. Surfaces cleaned up after with wire brush on angle grinder.
Would be delighted to get any feedback on my welding...
Had a chat with the Brundle's driver when he dropped off the steel; he anticipated being furloughed on the 80% any day - several drivers already on it and more and more customers locking down each day.
