converting mig to tig

Hi all have a tig torch gas solonoid and ac arc welder and a somewhat knackered sealey mig all collected when taking rubbish to the tip wondered if i could use the rectifier from the sealey after the ac arc welder and feed the gas solonoid seperately from a seperate psu to make a scratch start tig just wondered if anyone has done this before thanks in advance nick

Scratch start migs generally dont have a solonoid the valve is on the hand piece.

You would use the rectifier and the reactor from the MIG to convert the AC ark welder to DC. Then either use the solenoid or use a valve in the torch.
