Just been for a walk, these were in a field, 2 close together and one in the distance, they all have flashing red lights on them.

Any idea what they are for?

Could be, but they are strangely placed.

Maybe! That would explain the flashing lights and the homemade look, the setup is vaguely like a runway light setup.

The lights are both pointing in the same direction, and perpendicular to the line between the posts. Was there anything of interest in the direction they were pointing?

Its home made anyway, the lights are cycling lights and the bit along the bottom is black electrical conduit with two white end boxes.
