Is my MIG man enough for 8mm steel rod?

Hi

I am planning on building a bbq with a hefty 8mm stainless steel rod griddle.

I already have an SIP Migmate Turbo 130. Would this be sufficient to weld this rod and which size wire woud you recommend i use?

It'll be fine for that, it's not structural so just needs to be held together.
0.8mm wire and clean the millscale off the weld areas to ensure you get maximum fusion

Grind a flat on the ends of the rod where it rests on the frame and you'll have a thin edge to weld to.
