Often skinny tyres work better and bite down through the surface - not on sand though!

Depends how far down that surface goes. But in any case I needed the rolling dia to get the right gearing

Finally found one...been after one for quite some time. I missed a nice one a few weeks back...then this popped up and I did a deal at £220 which I thought was excellent price.

^^^ yup....just getting too old to be stripping undersea under cars with wire brush!!!!

Looks almost brand new....looks like he bought it for 1 project and that was it...was a fibreglass car to so nothing heave.

But then I needed a safe way to get the car tilted ....some more shopping was needed

Sammy7 ....it's a car tilter/roller. You bolt it onto the wheel hubs and it allows you to push the car onto it's side so you can work underneath more easily.

I'll post some pics once I have it in operation.

Have you used a hi lift jack before?
Remember to keep the handle upright and flush with column before flipping the reverse lever or it gets very scary

Cheers fizzy....not used one before but I was reading the instructions and it said exactly the same thing. Apparently the load will tend to flip the handle upwards so good tip.....was also mentioned in the instructions under the "risk of death" section

I was shocked when I pulled the reverse lever and it all fell to the floor....turns out it needs a minimum load for the reverse to work too?

The Figaro only weighs around 800Kg....so reckon Ill be lifting an initial 400Kg which will decrease as the car is rolled.

The tilter I really wanted was the one made by a German company called liqui....the lifter is all built into the rig....very nice bit of kit. (Tinternet photo)

I may rig up something similar as this looked quite stable?

^^^ I think cj autos does one with a wheel kit that you can attach once it's over....then you can push it around the garage. But I think they are selling what I bought for over £400....then you have to add the wheel kit so starts getting very expensive.

I saw the liqui for £425 but I'd set me budget at £400 and it didn't happen....I've ended up with a roller and a 5 foot farm jack instead

Yes it is quite scary when the whole lot drops to the floor. As you say needs a minimum load.
Hold the handle firmly against the column with one hand or use a clip if provided when you go to lower it and you will be fine.
