Ok need a but of info boiler baxi duo tec 28

Ok had a bit of a problem with our baxi duo tec installed 6 years ago
Its now tripping the electrics a look under neath seeing water dripping from the right hand side of the boiler quick throw the front down and I can see this under the diver valve (a common problem from a quick look on the internet)

I've spoken to the original installers what when originally installed said it's a 10 year warranty but now as it's gone wrong it seams another conpany took over and for xyz it's not (not going in to this been there done that for the last 2 days there is no movement on this) so looking for info on replacing the whole unit or just an ebay special st a 1/4

Dry out the electronic side and make sure it works ok then just replace leaking part if all's well

with out removing the motor im thinking i can do that but if its the valve leaking the water is pushing through the valve water will just **** ever where once the motor is removed

im looking at it as there is a cheap ebay diver valve and brass valve replacment for £30 seams too cheap

i could buy a new valve off of supplyers but its compleat unit at £130

Usually is the diverter leaking Into the motor but best to check

2 different types of motor and 2 diverters, they are not interchangeable

When you come to do it just drain down enough to remove it, there are entry of parts about cheaper then main dealers just choose a reputable company

i take its not ebay then

not that i had a look that close but do yuou have to remove the diverter valve from the main board for this or can you unplug the diverter from a plug in the diverter ?

if you registered with baxi then they should honor there agreement with the boiler if you didnt then its your fault

ive spent 2 days on the phone between baxi and the installer conpany baxi say its 2 year warrenty any more if they said its more years warrenty than that its the installer problem to sort

they say the he a model mine is just the he and on the paper work there is a sticker with 2 year warrenty on it

the boiler is registered with baxi and they confirmed the 2 year no more

yes serviced every year mostly before the service date as it better to service it before the winter period of full use so yes full service and signed by gas safe installer

baxi 10 year warranty is for the installer not the owner of the property

basically baxi 10 year warranty is a lie to the consumer should come under trading standards and false advertising of there products

A Duo tec is not a new boiler, if it was registered and serviced they will honour the warranty.

It also says the installer has to register it, I dont get why this is a problem because you shouldn't be fitting a boiler yourself

I fitted one yesterday, using the installer app I registered it and got confirmation of the 10 year warranty

The new Baxi, can only get the Duo Tec platinum 40kw now as they cant fit a 40kw heat exchanger into the case size above

I dont get why this is a problem because you shouldn't be fitting a boiler yourself

it was fitted by a company that was subed out the the installer im still in contact with the installer/plumber as hes been the one doing the service every year it was even him that after i contacted him said to call the company to sort the boiler out as even he said it thought it had a 10 year warrenty but after calling them it seams to me they been bought out and they dont want to know im sure if i took it to a govenment body i could get some thing done about them just shruging it off but how long do i want to wait before having heating and water (that the reason they are trying to get out of it as 99percent of people would just get it fixed after being told the warrenty run out and thats what there betting on)



as it fairly cold at the moment and having no hot water or heating is starting to get to me so im thinking of just getting the boiler fixed or fitting the parts myself where do i stand on fitting the parts as its just the water side am i on the right side of the law in fitting my self or is it only gas safe can do that ?

im trying to day to get a price for the parts when in not busy even if i have to pay to get them fitted it will help me have an idea of the prices and not getting over charged

any idea how long fitting would take and what sort of charge it should be so i have benchmark to gauge the prices give as i want it sorts quite soon but dont want a quick job that cost twice the price

It really depends on what cartridge it is, the bypass one is more expensive. The motors are the same price but one is 24v and one is 240v

If the cartridge isnt seized it's under an hour to swap

just phoned baxi gave them the gc number and the serial number and mine does so day have the bypass ive not seen this but never looked for it so assume it does ive got the part numbers now

valve body and cartridge(all in one so say with all seals to replace heat exchanger rest of pipes coming off it) 7224763

If the cartridge isnt seized it's under an hour to swap

if the cart is seized would it make any differance if changing the body ?
