A friend of mine once took his alsation for a walk one summer morning along the cinder path at Old Leigh, this runs along the seawall with a beach at each end.
Upon the beach a lady sat upon a beach towel facing out to sea meditating in the lotus position. The hound gambolled up behind her, squatted & unloaded a great coiled candle of dog turd onto the beach towel right behind her. The dog ran off & my friend to his eternal shame walked on & returned home by a different route. The Lady was still meditating as he went out of sight.

That made me laugh, I just hope the lady didn’t lie back & relax after her meditation, could have been messy.

Sand was a big yellow rangy black lab crossed over the fence to the dam Bekky a multiple field trial golden retriever gun dog & obedience champion .. as it was a classed as a mongrel few of a certain type of people would never consider being near such a beast let alone owning one.

I got him for £40 in Spring 1982 took him everywhere on the lead . Did a few off lead reward exercises and he started to shape up even at four months old . One Saturday when he was nearly five months old I decided to take him into the city centre of Peterborough 2 & 1/2 miles away for an introduction to lots of people for the day . Fed him at 06. 30hrs. as normal , took him for a walk & runabout at 07.30 hrs. along the River Nene embankment at Woodston to be a clean dog and then back home till about 09.30 .


He was dead keen , walked to heel on the lead like a hero , sat at every kerb or zebra crossing , by now the city centre was getting busy . Come 10.00 hrs we were walking along a 40 mtr length of railed in pavement going past Liptons & the old LLoyds bank building by the Cathedral . When suddenly he stopped by the wall of the bank on my right , squatted and shat a massive pool of partly digested Karta Kana dried food & water mix . Initially it spread about a foot wide then he inched forward a foot or so & to the road side to get rid of the rest .. the pool spread out to be almost four feet across and almost totally reached across the pavement . I felt sorry for all those folk that walked through it before they realised what they'd done . Once he'd finished he calmly walked to my side and resumed the at heel position . I walked away as quick as I could , crossed the road at the end of the railings and then took my red ski jacket off & stuffed it in a carrier bag from one of it's pockets to hide my embarrassment . At 15.00 hrs we started our way back home , the puddle was still there at the extreme edges .

MY ex wife told me when I mentioned what had happened …. she didn't want him to feel hungry whilst out with me , so she fed him an extra large breakfast whilst I was in the garden shed.

Well we have both - part time daughters dog, and the cat from up the street. No one owns a cat, they use anyone they can. A litter tray is good, but doesn't come with guarantees. A dog, you can and are legally bound to be in control of, even if it cant hold in the contents of its bowels. Made me laugh that story tbh.

Wife and I were swimming on Poppit beach one day, we were walking out of the sea back to our bags, we could see this Alsatian bounding up to them - its owners oblivious, neither bothered or caring. Sure enough, it sprayed both bags.
I am a little ashamed at the language I used at its owners....
