I had a Bantam 2000, that one had been lifted by the chuck. I owned it for two years & it was noisy & not accurate, I got shot of it to a dealer (Nobila) lost a fair bit but was glad to see the back of it. A week later it was up for sale with POA after the photo.

That's fine it won't do it any permanent damage, the slings are very skillfully placed so any possible misalignment in the headstock is also replicated in the tailstock. The problems come when you just lift by one, not both.

. Seriously though they are the Austin Allegro of lathes, one of the first things i would do if i came into money is buy a new lathe, then a Rolls Royce cullinan and a 20 year old lingerie model with a pneumatic chest.
