dont know if i want to say but a bit of rubish in the garden (not mine people round here seam to put out the recycling everday of the week 20 percent of it ends up in my garden 
but as damage wize no as luck would have it
but the last few years when moving in i replaced the fencing down the left hand side over the last 5 years ive replaced near all of the posts as they snaped over the last 5 years the post where new when i bought them but must been from old stock left out in the rain for 2 years to be half rotten

Wheely bins didn't move, new fence stayed up, found some bits of slate lying around, picked them up (to pack the lintel if I put a window into the garage) dog looked concerned because it wasn't food!!

dog loved it, I hibernated in the garage

Overnight 3ft of lead flashing thought it'd be happier lying in the garden as opposed to the top of the conservatory, back up and dressed by 10 a.m. this morning. Lost two fence panels but both were well past their best so no big deal.

Years ago in similar winds I was on a call out , got near a Portaloo that had blow over , parked up , got out the truck and heard someone screaming " Help Help " . It was coming from within the bog which was on the ground on top of the door .
Told the person inside to calm down open the door handle & I'd lift the body up to open it and get him out . It was then I realised the sump had done a little more than leak . The rescue went ahead , out of the opened box crawled an enormous Scouser covered in the contents of his endeavours & part of the sump juices etc.& blood .
He'd got a nasty cut on his head but it was a real Laurel & Hardy sort of scenario , t'was all I could do to not laugh .
I took him to the building I was going to and used a small wall mounted fire hose to hose the worst of the decorations & scents off him . Rang my boss told him of the situation and asked if I could take the bloke four miles away to casualty so he could get stitched up & given various protective injections etc .
My boss called me into his office a few days later , the guy & his wife had sent a lovely thankyou letter for me to my boss .
In the Marina we get the full force of the weather, as it comes up the Lee Valley, narrows to go under a large road bridge, so wind is normally travelling faster than before and then hits us, On the Boat bashed about, some gusts were violent, but only a few of our plants on the bank fallen over left them laying down until wind calms down, lucky on Saturday I had to refit a roof vent, leased to say it did not leak.
But walking the 1/4mile from our moorings and boat to the boat yard workshop, many covers shredded, several solar panels from boat roofs on the hard are now across the floor, one just out side the workshop very large and heavy, if it had hit anyone it would have seriously hurt, three boats broke stern away from the bank, most likely knocked mooring rope, but there was no way we could pull the boats back in, and as its a wide river, just left them on the bow ropes and added extra for good luck, and a wooden cabin/wheel house roof on a wide beam Dutch Barge lucky it landed on the bank with no damage. Roof and boats all back in their proper locations.

Had a weird day today, weather wise.
Parked in Scunthorpe last night and got rocked to sleep by fairly high winds. Loaded at the steelworks at 6 o'clock and the wind was icy to the point of being painful. Drove down to Didcot and experienced everything from snow to cler blue skies and very bright sunshine. Currently parked near Newbury watching the gritting wagons doing their thing.

Thought I had got away with it on Sunday. Looked out of the window this morning and saw a length of lead flashing with some broken tiles glued to it. I'm guessing it wasn't done all that well in the first place. Barn roof looks a lot neater without it but I suspect I will find there is now a leak.
The most disappointing is the marquee that has served as a 4 car garage over the last 6 years. I didn't expect it to last more than a year. I'll have to get around to building the garage this year. The marquee is still all there but isn't looking good after the wind.

We've had a string of gritters go by here about an hour ago... made me realise it might be a bit coolish or snowy tonight , That being the case I took the dog out for his last pee of the day and lit two 2" dia 8 inch long homemade candles in the glasshouse ( said three Hail Mary's too 
).
Hopefully the candles will keep the 60 or so tubbed geraniums in the greenhouse frost free for this the third year of their life .

Nothing, Living on the edge of the Pennines we are used to high winds boiling off the hills and as for the rain, we live at the top of a hill that climbs 500 feet in less than a mile. Flooding happens to other people who live lower down by the river in houses built on the flood plane.

Windscreen on my BMW was cracked by a small piece of ridge tile cement that had broke loose rolled down my roof and onto my car on the driveway. Luckily I work for an Automotive Glazing Supply company. £22 for a new screen and trim and a favour from a local fitter.
No not in Royden Marina (River Stort), but funnily enough I know Peter and his son Joe who is in same marina as I, River Lee.

I've known Peter for years, firstly through bikes then it continued with clay shooting. Not seen him in a while but do still see his brother Geoff two or three times a month for beers.
