Micra K12 power steering help, not a good month for me!

Micra K12 1.5 Diesel key less

Power steering works some times others doesn't.

Did it this morning. I have tried to read the fault code (Blue Point Micro scan) but next time I turned it on it wasn't showing fault? Tested battery which is showing good, but slight recharge?
Only fault code is P0670 Glow plug control module? Which reset ok

Now How can I systematically test this as I can't afford to just rush out and buy bits.

Can I fit a scrap column?

It's not rocket science so surely it should be testable?

google would be my first point of call, so often there are common points of failure, I assume it is an electric column? BMW used an electric rack,

Its a servo motor the column, I have had a google but as per usual lots of opinions but no hard facts, its just too m=uch money to take a punt not to mention fitting it

Next time it plays up it might be worth checking the charging rate?
