There a few linux softwares progs that'll do it,but as others have said you need some real horsepower in that box of yours
What are your specs mate.
https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
Install those and screenshot the main pages.
Both safe. Been using them for years..
Happy to help out with an upgrade mate.
That's no problem for Doubleboost.... Any spyware won't understand him anyway so he is safe....My experience of Wondershare software in the past is that it was riddled with spyware. Antivirus software had a fit during installation.
Cheers dude, I’m a bit overwhelmed really as I don’t “do” computers. I’ve checked my laptop and that’s i7 but then don’t understand the rest of the stuff.
So I did the sensible thing, gave up and rearranged the office
Stick with it Parm. I have been around computers since commodore 64s etc but unless you stay using things it's like many things as it's updated you loose track.Cheers dude, I’m a bit overwhelmed really as I don’t “do” computers. Parm ...I think (IMHO) your best bet is to convert your 4K footage to 1080P HD ...I assure you, no one will notice the difference, and you can use a 'more normal' editing package to edit it. I actually film in HD now on my 4K camera as it still looks fab even on my 55" screen and is much easier to handle.
I can't really ... we (the forum) would need to know your PC's specs .....ram, graphics card, cpu, ...I think the progs others have listed should be OK with HD ......as I say I have used Premiere for 25 years so can't really comment on the others mentioned, sorry.
These aren't your specs. There minimum requirements.

Google cpuid and gpuid (I linked them earlier.) And screenshot the main pages. This will give us all your system info. Inc what i7 chip. Ram size and speed. Gpu. Main board.
I'm confused
@Parm - me and a few people have suggested davinci resolve: have you had a look at that?
