I've got a friend who is going to sell one off for his Dad but has no idea what it's worth.
Any suggestion.

They are not that heavy so I doubt your first point and the second point I very much doubt, if you can drive a sewing machine you will easily get to grips with a ML7. My mother was a seamstress but I have not got a clue what all the levers and knobs do on a sewing machine.Sadly, it would go through my hut floor, and would be wasted on a newbie like me.
Location helps I suppose.https://www.gumtree.com/p/lathes/myford-ml7-lathe/1363071553
There was also a chap in Tain trying to sell an ML7 for iirc £900 [can't remember what was with it ] but he tried for ages without success.
Prices seem to be all over the place.
That just needs a good clean, bit of oil and itll be a decent machine. Go make him a daft offer, get it home, good clean fresh oil etc, wipe down with wd 40 new pictures. Stick it on a pallet south and sell ithttps://www.gumtree.com/p/lathes/myford-ml7-lathe/1363071553

The ones on Ebay are usually way over priced and the ones that do sell go for £500 - £600. I was recently given an ML7 with just a 3 jaw chuck and an incomplete change wheel set. I completely stripped it, repainted in Myford grey, set all the correct clearances and sold it on Gumtree for £550 in 3 days. If it had had the correct stand I could have got £650.
Check the headstock bearings as they are white metal and there are no replacements available. A ball bearing conversion set from Myford is close to £400.
