Having been caught out of gas and gypping about my ropey buzz box, these appeared.

and as I had nowhere to put them, some MM racking has landed too.

Today I acquired eleven bottles of methylated spirit's for £1.29 each. Got them at a " Home Bargains " shop so I bought all that was on the shelf. Sure beats paying £4.50 for a 500ml bottle which seems to be the going price. Saved £35.31 compared to other places offering the exact same product.

Today I acquired..a broken workshop roof “truss” down at the bungalow. Had my reservations about them when it was put up 4 years ago, the roof sagged from day one but I bodged it as best I could then set about making some replacements.

As always is the case, they sat in storage! To be fair I should have replaced the roof in the summer just gone but other things needed repairs and time got away from me.

So I shall be acquiring;

26x OSB3 TG4 @ 8x2ft
20x 3x2 @ 16ft
5x 10mtr rolls of mineral felt

Along with a boat load of screws, nails, brackets and adhesive, then booking a long weekend and praying for good weather.

Next time you are near a horse feed and saddlery place check out the horse grooming stuff , IIRC 5 litres of meths cost me £12.40 a year ago from Claytons Ammanford . I think it's used for cleaning horses hooves prior to polishing them up for a competition .

Eventually got fed up with trying to fix my 15 year old chainsaw (re previous thread on here) and bought a shiny new one.


OMG, what a revelation , quieter, easy to start, chain adjust on a thumbwheel and cuts like a beast. Clever stuff on the helmet as well like the ear defenders are spring/click fit so when you push them into your ears they lock in place and help to hold the lid on nice and tight. Probably old news for all you regular tree cutters but wish I had taken the plunge years ago with a proper saw
