I haven’t figured out what it weighs yet but it was actually easier to roll over than I was expecting. It’s probably a good 200kg though so maybe not the best thing to be moving by myself at 7 in the evening.


It is indeed, unfortunately I got into doing work for other people and playing with bikes so I haven’t done any meaningful work on it in 2 years.


Sort of a work/welding bench and jig table if I can find someone to bast out a 100mm grid of 16mm holes in the top.

A cheap mag drill can be helpful

Got the bandsaw re-assembled this evening. Was bolting everything together and checking cables when I came across this


So popped out and picked up some new heavy weight flex and made a new power lead up.

Fitted motor, pulleys, bashed some of the dents out on the tin work and filled the gearbox with fresh oil (the old stuff was like tar).

All together and running nice and quiet, just waiting for the new bearings which should get here tomorrow then i can start adjusting the cut and seeing how good it can get

They go on display at an exhibition in Nuremberg next month,I’m also half way thru building 2 huge raised floors for this,and will go to Germany on a jolly to help erect these floors,photos of floors to follow.

so following on from this,I’m now making 18 display stands for this gun stock,c/w night vision optics,had a view last night,30 m from a flock of sheep,picks them out easily,but not clear enough to tell head from ****,need to talk to the rep before I shell out £8000 !

I completed the last 4 birch ply carcasses for the kitchen, and welded up the frame they will sit on. I only have a few ply shelves to cut and I'm then onto the oak face frames, doors and, dovetailed drawers, which is far more interesting.

The four carcasses are 400mm deep and sit under the breakfast bar, two either side. The left side of the frame bolts to the last run of cabinets. I'll bash the adjustable feet in tomorrow once the smoothrite has dried. The missus has been away at a conference for a couple of days, back tomorrow evening. I should be able to get this installed before she gets back

Just added them up including utility room I've made 25 ply carcasses. It's easy with a plunge saw Domino jointer and air pinner but still a bit dull.

Well tonight I'm like a dog with two dicks. My inverter died again recently, just as I'd set up yamaha vmax v4 engine on my miller to top one of the vees. The reason for this was to restore it after fitting a pair of used liners - they're machined after fitting at the factory. So I was flycutting a cast iron liner - and a chilled one at that, in an ali block, I wasn't even sure the flycutter would do it cleanly. then the inverter dies on me.
I had a couple of used ones, of unknown condition, but the 415/415 one wouldn't run on 240, so the only option was to try a 240/240 one and limit the frequency somewhat. Well suprise suprise, it worked a treat. I ran it at 40hz, according to the drive it was only taking 2 amps per phase. I took a couple of cuts across one side of the block, finishing off with a 2 though cut. At this depth there was very little movement in the block, and a check with some flat steel stock showed it was as near perfect as I could measure, absolutely perfect in fact. So, result!

Repaired a felisatti belt sander today (powercord and pulley replaced)
Checked an AEG WS6-115 not worth to repair
Gears/all the ball bearings failure/ carbon brushes need to be replaced .
New grinder costs 60 euros here ,we have 50 euros worth in parts , it's not worth to repair

Ejected 5 small kidneys stones right now
I think I've done enough today

I had a sheet of ply fall on a bench in the garden and snap the leg off over Christmas so got to do a bit cast Aluminium as my first TIG job of the year. Fortunately it was pretty good metal and didn’t pop and fizz at all.
