Just watched a recording of the Channel 5 Fort William to Mallaig train journey from start to finish, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

One wonders what the percentage of 'English' people is that, like myself, have both Scots and Irish ancestors (to say nothing of French, German, Dutch and Scandinavian)... if there was a Heinz 57 for humans, we the English are probably it. I am more of a mix: border reivers, Orcadian, South Uist and mid Agyll. I had one relative who was a ships captain from Montrose who in the early 1800's got iced in for a winter in the Baltic, Konnigsberg and came back with a Prussian wife. So i have some non Scottish ancestry
