£250 USB cable?

I've been doing a lot of searching as I need some specific, slightly odd, usb connectors

Then i across this

I appreciate decent quality but surely a digital cable wont have any impact on the signal, unless it's so poor that the signal is corrupt?

I suppose it's the same with all hobbies and pass times..such as road bikes.... A £100 pair of wheels will do the job just fine. A £300 pair of wheels will do the job slightly better, but a £700 pair look great whilst doing the same job. Then there's that carbon fibre aero pair for £2000...

Someone on an audio forum might be scoffing why do you need a tipped £250 Sandvik boring bar when a Machine Mart £5.00 one will do the same job. They both just take metal off.

I suppose it's the same with all hobbies and past times..such as road bikes.... A £100 pair of wheels will do the job just fine. A £300 pair of wheels will do the job slightly better, but a £700 pair look great whilst doing the same job. Then there's that carbon fibre aero pair for £2000...

There's an actual difference in the end result between the Sandvik and the Machine Mart boring bore. There isn't between a pair of certified 1m USB cables.

Who says there isnt a perceived difference between USB cables? If it makes the bloke happy to show them off to his pals, or have them all neatly laid out to show off, then thats up to him (and his bank account). I remember 25 years ago looking in Richer Sounds at 'oxygen free' interconnects and £10/m speaker cable wondering a. what the hell they were and b. if my labourers wage would stretch to it.

How many wives buy a dress for say £100 when a £50 looks just the same. Its because she knows its £100 and therefore its 'better' and makes her feel good.

I'm flogging a dead horse here because i do agree £250 is far too much for a USB lead but then again i have just bought a new pair of wheels for my bike that would make peoples toes curl.

PS There's no difference in the boring bar end results if i am using them

The USB spec is designed to work over cheap tiny cables, a posher piece of wire can't improve to spec it works at. At least expensive speaker wires can have different impedances etc which arguably could influence the (analogue) signal but a robust digital signal, no way, total marketing **language**.

A mate of mine is massively into his hifi, he's one of the "if it's expensive it must be good" types.
He convinced me I should swap my standard "kettle" type amplifier power lead for a posh one he had going spare.
I managed to convince myself I could hear enough difference to warrant paying what he was asking for it.
I then got hold of a different one and tried that and the difference was proper night and day. Don't ask me how it works, I was as sceptical as anyone but I've since bought two more of the same and couldn't be happier.
I had another mate come over one day and we did allsorts of swap tests with my and his cables and on another day went to his and did the same.
He now owns a set of the same ones too.

I run the aerial cable to my freeview box through the centre of a strong magnet from a speaker because of the interference from traffic on the junction outside. It doesn't make a blind bit of difference but it makes me smile when anyone notices and I explain it to them in scientific terms about particle alignment and signal polarisation. It's all

I’ve just spent £800 on a pair of custom built barbel rods.
They don’t catch anymore barbel than a £30 rod. There are differences but not many on here is likely to understand them fully.

Have you ridden a set of Carbon tubs? They are worth the money.

very nice quality its like owning a hand made English shotgun and nice to own but a poxy gold plated cable is just ott specialy when coppers 99 percent pure and all the gubbins in the radio and on a printed circuit board with solder joints and press in conectors for the speakers

I rode a motorbike with £2k worth of carbon wheels fitted and the difference is unreal. Feels like someone has taken 200kg away from it when chucking it round the twistys.
