Have you considered one of the small diesel heaters quite a few of us here bought[ myself included]?
Very good, mine does a 14' x 10' cave and is thermostatic. Toasty in a very short time.....
They can also be operated remotely but I've never bothered using that facility, although I believe @mrsbruce does. Set it going, have a coffee before you go out.......

Very economical. Last year I was getting 8 hrs heat from 4ltrs of diesel approximately. When it gets the room up to temperature the thermostat kicks in and the heater just ticks over. The noise of the pump is the only issue but I can live with that.

Just fitted one in mates 12 x 30 wshop has a 150mm pipe running the length of workshop about afoot of celing the exhaust runs through it after 40 minutes it is over 25deg any way to conserve/disisapte wast ex heat helps to cut cost.

Never measured it tbh, I use it like my car - if it needs fuel I put some in.

This is very much like the version they sold the other month but it's double the price,....OK it's got another 500W output.
I'm happy with the cheaper 2000W model.

I had an oil filled rad in my garage & that worked quite well. Not sure how much electric it used, But never noticed having a high meter reading

I use a parrafin heater like this one.
I have a few others too - along with one that needs plugging in (for the fan) - but they don't use much fuel.
Ok, I'll admit it, I've got one of each of the five shown on the top row of the 9 on this page!
I've had them for a few years, and they all work well.
The first one I linked to, I used on a boat, for a while.

Same here....I had one of those bottle heaters but everything ended up dripping wet in the winter.
I switched to using bathroom heaters (those ones with the pull cord) and they are a lot better....2 of them heats my garage which is around 8mx4m
My bathroom heaters are plugged into those boost timers so I can set them in 30min increments up to 2hrs...I'm paranoid about leaving them on so this way they can only be on for at most 2 hrs before they automatically switch off!
