What is it for?
Inside the main box. 440v in 50v out.View attachment 202920
There is already a transformer at the back for the lo volt light.
same as my harrison 50 volt lightLoVo lighting was 50VAC
It is on mine anyway.
It would have fitted onto the rear of this panel

The silver part bottom left is the rotary switch the part boot right is the contractor the 4 pin plug type connector plugged into the late to send power around the system
Probably some one has ripped it all out o maybe fit a single phase system the contractor maybe packed up or someones just broke up a lathe
If I can eliminate this I can concentrate on getting the thing to work!
I have purchased new 24 volt transformers to get rid of the 440 volt switch gear.Yes that is what my Colchester Triumph is like.
It looks like the 50V transformer not connected.
Would it be for lighting or pump or something else?
There is already a lo volt transformer at the back of the lathe - but perhaps that was added afterwards? Or do they have 2x 50v transformers?

I would like to try to keep it original as there is so little wear. Do a full restoration perhaps.
Excuse my ignorance but could the contactor need a low voltage supply to trigger it?
Or is the transformer just to power an ancillary?

contractors so they didn't work direct for the company contactors50v was used for control voltage on older cranes, when I worked at Pilkington we had a few gantry cranes that used 50v contractors.

To get the lathe to run I have to hold the start lever in a certain position. If I alter the linkage to get it to latch the lathe won't run unless I physically move the snap contacts in the switch back down.what’s the issues your haveing?
