You could cool it all you like, but at the sharp end it's just far too hot. Even today's oils might not be able for it.
With the ongoing advent of a more-than century-old technology as the Next New Thing (electric cars), there is no real point in pursuing a ceramic engine now, I think.
Even if it could be made to work reliably and the somewhat challenging aspects of forming, machining and prototyping an engine which could then be mass-produced, the costs would be astronomical for very little gain now.

That depends upon what fuel you are going to use for the propulsion . Electric will not be satisfactory of all forms of transport , perhaps a hydrogen gas powered engine could be where things are heading . Remember High speed stationary engines like the Wankel were poo pooed for many a year till they were made & used not just for static engines but cars ( NSU SPYDER ?) .

Would you accept charged accumulators for the first few miles till the engine gets hot enough to produce the separated hydrogen & oxygen & compress it in a bank of accumulators ?

I'm working on it , just need the laboratory to do a few more experiments Cant't decide if one of the catalysts should be made of formula xyz or maybe formula vKhntp or Cadburys dark chocolate

But I can confirm that the solar & infra red PV generating panels work 24/7 .
