Cold Caller Charity Scammers

A few days ago I answered the door to a girl wearing patches and identification on a high visibility vest indicating she was collecting for the "Salvation Army". My Wife gave her a couple of Pounds and she went on her way to other houses along the street.

Yesterday we heard that this was a scam. So I thought about it for awhile, and just for fun what my Wife and I plan to do with future cold caller's supposedly collecting for charity, is tell them we're going to photograph them for identification purpose so that if they are found to be a scammer it will be forwarded to the police and posted on all social media sites. A person's body language should give a good indication of their true motive.

Yeah, looking forward to the next cold caller wanting money.

There's no fun in that.

Although we can't afford to donate to all charities in need, we do donate so some.

I had British Red Cross....and Im good a getting rid of them.....I couldnt get rid of him....just kept talking..my manners wouldnt allow me to shut the door in his face.....so I googled Red Cross got the number, phoned and asked them if they had people in the area......they confirmed they did.....so I asked them if they would tell this guy I wasnt going to give him anything

Years ago a friend of mine said that when someone bothers you, you should look them in the eye with a blank expression on your face and ask them...……………… "Does the noise in my head bother you" ? It can really shake some people up.

A few years ago a very old chap knocked on the door selling plants, shrubs and trees. He said they had been cancelled off a job up the road and the boss had said they were not getting paid so we’re recouping there costs

We didn’t buy anything and as my partner is gullible I tell her to ask me as iv come home to find they’ve sold her onto the milk round in the past

Even the genuine ones are scammers. I sent one away but he saw me go out and returned. He wasnt happy giving me all the contact details for his superiors after I went back for something I forgot and he was harassing the Mrs. Lodged a formal complaint with the charities commission as well

When I use to have my own place I always use to say I don't give donations at the door

I donate direct and always tell them so, After helping out a guy who collected for the British legion many times and then seeing him in the local paper and reading he had scammed them out of thousands from charity boxes on the poppy appeal i was disgusted and he was always the first one out dressed up with a bucket for children in need so i wonder how mush he got away with over the years.

A friend of mine got fed up of Jehovah's witnesses turning up at his old place. He heard the door-bell ring and poked his head out of an upstairs window and said he'd be right down. Proceeded to strip down to his birthday suit and ran downstairs, burst open the front door and welcomed them in. Not taking no for an answer and proceeded to listen to them attentively whilst sat there starkers and making it as awkward as possible for them. They didn't come back...

Not charity but again Jehovah's witnesses at my parents farm when I was a kid, family turned up in Sunday best and pulled into the yard. Parents got out and then immediately regretted it when they saw us. I'd just got back from a walk with the dog so had a shotgun over my shoulder and the dog had half a squirrel in her mouth (other half had been turned into a red mist ). Dad walked out of the workshop with his jumper on fire from doing some grinding and Mum emerged from the barn covered in blood from the chest down as she'd been delivering a difficult lamb...

They couldn't wait to leave

Wife likes to discus the merrits of paganism with them. You can see them itching to leave. Especially when they note the pentogram tattoo

Mum's default response is (being Portuguese) to say she's Roman Catholic. They naturally assume she's a staunch follower and they have no hope of converting her.

The best response I've ever seen or heard to a cold caller was my sister answered the landline when she was a teenager. The caller was offering landline packages to which she responded we don't have a landline. The chap sounded a bit confused and said "oh OK" and hung up

Catholic’s are the easiest to convert to jehovas and the hardest to turn back due to there beliefs

We had cold calling Mormans calling at our previous address, my wife opened the door to them, now our cottage the floor level was down one step from the outside. So ding dong, wife opens door, Mormon looks in sees wife about a foot down without realising & says in an American accent “is your mommy in” wife says no & shuts the door. My wife was probably late 30s at the time!

When religious fanatics wish to push their beliefs on me, I respond with " no thanks, religion's and peoples different opinions about them is the reason for most of the misery in the world and always has been". If they want to argue, I don't talk to them, I talk directly to the children they bring with them, and tell them to question everything your told that can't be proven as being true. The fanatics never come back.

anyone had the deaf and dumb conmerchants round flogging so called a4 sketches for 20 quid they show you a picture of a little kid with a big red heart on the back. I said no thanks and off he went. till I then said excuse me I have some cash and he turned round yea rito your deff allrite the other is a scrote flashing a badge and says hese been a bad lad and flogging stuff till his apprenticeship for a plumber starts theres no such course . I asked him what college he was going to and when do they enrol and he got a bit nasty and it was nearly fisticufs
