Happy with BOC

hi just not long got back from work n i decided to call into my local BOC branch to get a cylinder of the good stuff

and to my amazement a X size cylinder of argosheild light cost me £45.80 + VAT also including a £2.23 cylinder key

i swear it cost me alot more last time or it that normal now?

im not sure to be honest i was jsut charged that price is that a years rental or a month? seems abit steep for a month even for BOC

Was that not just the price of the gas excluding rental? I think the price for rental is almost £100 per year

well i returned my previouse cylinder in october when my contract ran out and i didnt re-new it because of the extension we have had built but now im gettin back up and running so i take it someone has messed up is it worth just being honest, am i going to get hit with a bill, or be hush hush over it?

I'd say that is just the refill price and collection/handling charge. I'm with AP and pay something like £80 a year up front on each of my bottles. A refill ranges from about £15 to £30 depending what it is and the collection charge is about another £10-15. If you don't pay your rental up front you get charged monthly at a daily rate of about 28p but don't make the mistake I did of going on the daily rate just in case you want to get rid of the bottles. I can't remember the figures exactly but the price goes up something like 30% after 3 months and 50% after 6 months so the years rental ends up being considerably more than it would have been if you paid up front.

EDIT: You posted while I was typing. If you had a year paid for up front and took the bottle back once it expired I'd assume they've put you on a daily rate now. I assume they have your bank details etc from when you set the account up so it could just be direct debit? Though I'm not exactly sure how payment works as I've only ever paid by direct debit....

Argosheild Light X size is £26.15 +VAT
monthly rental £5.00 +VAT and
collection is £11.35 +vat

if you have not renewed your contract then you shouldn't get hit for the bill.

the Annual rental for that size of bottle with BOC is £55.55+VAT.

if i were you i would question it and ask for an upto date price list from them,

Is Tier one the initial price and Tier 2 and 3 the prices after x and y months? Or have I got that bit totally wrong?!

Tier 1 rental applies for the first 90 days of rental of a cylinder, thereafter that cylinder, if still on site, attracts Tier 2 rental which is the Tier 1 rental charge plus 30% and this continues for the next 90 days at which time, again if the cylinder remains on site, then moves to Tier 3 rental which is Tier 2 rental plus 50%.
