So essentially I would like to know your thoughts about the various tools brands
Everywhere I go , peoples talk me about Hilti as the top brand in the world ,and that no-one can beat them
My experience with Hilti isn't so good and in my opinion they are to much expensive.
Essentially I think that is all smoke .
I think that the price you pay for it's enough to buy the tool twice so the customer service they give it's paid ...
So when you have to replace the tool or the battery what you generally do it's paid again for something you already paid for.
I don't know how works out there but here peoples say
"When the battery is dead you gave the old one and 100 euros and they give you the new one"
Something like that for the tool but way more expensive
I refused to buy Hilti again after I bought an SDS max chiesel (50+VAT)
I got a te504 and it catastrophically failed .
I have an angle grinder that it's essentially a Bosch grinder that I love
A friend of mine has a powertools repair shop and told me an episode ...
10 new Hilti demolition hammers took to him for repair after a week of life .
Sent the to Hilti and came back with the same issue the hit was not hard enough .
I don't like them ,I do prefer buy other brands ...
Like metabo
I know peoples that loves Makita, other Milwaukee other DeWalt etc
I think that every single brand has tools better than others ...
I would like to know your thoughts about and what you like to use
I'm not saying that Hilti has no value or something like that but that I just don't like them and that I don't know why it's so popular.
And another important thing I'm knowing the Hilti of these days I don't know how it was back in the years

I do buy Hilti SDS tools 2kg to 6.5kg - and have been pleased with them.

We have bought all makes in 5" grinders and to be honest - price/maker is not your guide. We work them like "Blackpool donkeys"... As an average - buy what colour you like!

Milwaukee? I do tend to draw myself towards Bosch and Hitachi tools of late.

There's something called CAS , essentially metabo batteries and various tools made by different manufacturers in the world
Not something official but an hudge amount of cheap tools are compatible with 18V Makita batteries

I do buy Hilti SDS tools 2kg to 6.5kg - and have been pleased with them.

We have bought all makes in 5" grinders and to be honest - price/maker is not your guide. We work them like "Blackpool donkeys"... As an average - buy what colour you like!

I am not dumb enough to declare one maker - the supreme tool of choice.

I have bought hyper expensive tools and been disappointed...

I have bought cheap tools and worked them to the death and rushed out to replace them "like for like" and been disappointed they don't still make them.

I do tend to buy Hilti for SDS drilling - but saying that we have a 2kg SDS Dewalt drill on one of our vans - that one of my lads reckons we ought to have a funeral and a wake for - when it dies. It has done so much loyal work. He reckons it has been thru more 12/14mm drill bits than most 2kg drills go thru 8mm Fisher Fixings.

The drill in question has been to my grinder/drill hospital - had new brushes and I fitted a 10m lead on it in yellow arctic cable (maybe they use it more because it has a long cable on it).

I have a hilti te22 sds drill. had it for years give 30 quid for it second hand also got a hilti te35 sds max breaker in mint nick given they are very reliable robust tools . the thing is 25 years ago nothing could match them for quality but nowadays a lot of manufacturers have come along way materials have improved and the production is faster and prices have come down so now they are overpriced

Behind "brightspark" 100% on this. Yes Hilti was / is good.... (but for the money will they outlast two other tools?).

My mate has a two speed Metabo drill that he has drilled 10mm holes in 5mm stainless for years - millions of holes. What would you advise him to buy next?

Couldn’t find it so got an almost identical one from eBay for a fiver, couldn’t believe my luck as it’s bulletproof

Can you remember and share an example of hyper expensive tools that didn't match your expectations?
I had a bad experience buying WERA driver bits ,I bought a pz3 bit and it didn't last the first screw .
Other examples of my experience with expensive garbage are drill bits ,paid a lot and didn't last long
An example of happy experience with cheap stuff is a Lidl driver bit set I bought it something like 2 years ago and again they got abused but still good as the first day .

Generally I'm happy with what I acquire
I have a metabo uhe2660-2quick ,I use it with 25mm diameter and 600mm length bits when I have to lay pipes through walls
Also used to diamond core drilling with 100mm hole saw through concrete
I'm happy with it.
About your DeWalt I understand what does mean ,I am the surgeon in my grinder/drill hospital ...
I can replace easily something I bought , but I can't replace something that I picked up broken ,put effort and love to repair it .
I have a metabo W12-125Quick paid 140 euros,I have an Hitachi g13sc2 saved from scraps , total money spent on it 5 euros
Believe which one I can't even imagine to throw away?

I have two of them ,made by scintilla
CSB550RE I think
They are designed to last , before the armature it will fail a small conductor coil between stator and brush holder

I have a bench grinder from that manufacturer ,I think that now is a Spanish company
But today are just garbage , expensive one
But there is something good they also sell some little good inverter welders

Equality for all batteries, perhaps the EU can force that on to the manufacturer's to speed up GloboHomo.

it will never happen .why would you manufacture something to sell so someone else can come along and undercut you on the batteries loosing sales

I have a stayer die grinder i bought years ago, big green plastic cased one. Its a bit noisey now but has been great and is still going strong.

My go to is Hitachi, I have a drill, impact diver, grinder, jigsaw and ricipricating saw (all cordless) but I also have bosch, Worx, and others, depends on the cost and accessiblity of items. Oh and lets not forget Workzone or Parkside (aldi and lidl)
