Tablets?

cheers, a lot of helpful info there.
Thinking iPad or Samsung galaxy.
But then had the thought of a small laptop until I remembered about antivirus and updates!
So back to the above two I think.

True but for IT simpletons like me the apple decisions are more than good enough. I can honestly say that I’ve never been prevented from doing something on my apple device.

But I do recognise that I’m nowhere near as advanced as some of you clever folk and your computers

I've heard this mentioned a few times in this thread. I'm baffled as to what's tricky about an Android device.
They function in near identical manner to iOS click drag swipe settings are more involved but defaults are fine for simpletons.

I no longer buy apple due to there ethics.
Slowing down old hardware to sell newer tablets and phones to simpletons doesnt
Sit well with me.

Your into your photography, do you have your iPad and camera set up so you can get the pics off your camera?
I’ve a Nikon camera and I couldn’t get it set up with my iPad. ( possibly Luddite user error though)

I always download photos using a laptop as I use the canon software. Keep a permanent copy burnt onto a DVD and then also have working copies on a hardrive and on a cloud drive that I can access from my iPad.

Neither of my cameras have built in WiFi, I have looked at the WiFi enabled cards but not sure what it brings to the party.

I’ve got used to the Apple Platform, I’m a simple user and get my head round most things appple quite quickly. Yes they change things, make stuff more expensive, slow things down etc but that’s a price I pay for my lack of knowledge and competence in such matters.

Give you an example, on my laptop the kids have downloaded Google Chrome this week, absolutely nothing else has changed. Now it only connects to the web through chrome. Nothing else works. I’m stuck as I don’t know how to fix this so it’s gonna have to go the the computer guru.

So far apple is in my favour, I know it and how it works, so prob best stick with what I know I think!

None of the programs that need to connect to the web actually connect.

Works fine with google chrome. Everything else says no internet connection.

And yes quite likely boys are messing with me. They are teenagers after all and they know dad doesn’t do computers

I got laptop, gave it to a man who set it all up for me, it worked perfectly till the scoundrels got their hands on it.

Apparently it’s not cool to use normal google. And I know it doesn’t have a virus as Kaspersky isn’t telling me anything

Or is it just the Russians have hacked my computer, lol

This week I upgraded my iPhone 8 to an 11. Within ten mins of taking it out of the box it was fully up and running from my iCloud backup.

My Huawei phone cloned my old android phone over WiFi in about the same time as that. Google stores your apps and numbers for you. I used Apple and am not fussed which I use . I just bought an iPhone 6 to repair for my wife as she likes Apple but her 4s is showing its age now.

Sounds like the only allowed program is chrome and nothing else is getting out or in.

Put malwarebytes on Parm. Not all malware shows up as a virus. I dump the paid for checkers and just use Microsoft essentials it's a lot less greedy and intrusive.
