I've got a big boiler install coming up and well any excuse for a new toy especially one with lasers

The multi beam and cross beam is what I need, dont have Leica money and it only needs to be spirit level accurate

As long as you don’t need huge accuracy or are working in massive spaces.

I’ve found the cheaper lasers to be more than accurate enough for domestic type work.

The best laser levels are mounted on a bearing system and are self levelling. I used a dewalt one to hang roller shutter doors & it was a godsend to get the roller horizontal & the runners vertical.

As above, the dewalt red or green lasers are really good... You can pick one up for decent money on ebay...

I dont need massive accuracy, it needs to be as accurate as a 3' level held to a wall

I do need multiple lines or there will be little point to getting it

It's for setting out pipe clip positions indoors, nothing more complicated

It needs to be new as well

Pop a pole in the corner of a room and they will mark a line all the way around the walls and floor from that point.

The one you linked looks big and cumbersome and will need to find a way to get it into position easily. Also a generic Chinese jobby. Accuracy is not great at all.


I use a plasterboard prop to hold my laser along with a camera handlebar mount.
Works a treat.
My pls is very similar to the DeWalt

biggest issue i've found with cheaper laser levels isnt the "level" as that can be calibrated.

its seeing the line in anything more than twilight.

its a good 10 or 15 years since i used one: theyve probably improved even the cheap ones by now, plus might be easier indoors.

In bright daylight there all a bit hit and miss. That's when the detector on a rule comes in to play.

It will be fine, if it does what you want... accuracy is claimed to be. 0.3mm/m, a standard level is usually 1mm/m.

Visibility indoors will be good, better than red

I will do a bit more looking, a cross line will need moving every 2 minutes but a multiple line will allow me to pretty much do a boiler before I have to move it

Still prefer a level for linings.
Use mine for tiling and kitchen fitting mainly
Usually set in the corner 50mm higher than the cabs and use a block on top of the units to reference it.

I use a pls laser . had it for 8years .brill for doing recessed light on the ceiling and conduits down the walls as well as tiling . think it cost me 250 quid at the time

Had a topcon one 12 years ago, was a really good buy...Now i have a dewalt and its good but nowhere near as good as the old Topcon one ! I think they also make the dewalt/PLC ones...
