A friend of mine has bought a brand new Ford van and had loads of problems with it cutting out, going into limp mode etc and it's been back to the dealer numerous times already despite only having done 3000 miles.
But the latest thing (that rather shocks me) is that it was reported by the dealers mechanic that the oil was useless and needed changing. Bear in mind it's only done 3K and service intervals are I think 10 or 12K miles.
Now 'useless oil' to me can only mean it's contaminated, and most likely it's got diesel in it from a faulty injector or gross blow past.
So is there a test kit he can use to wave the results under Ford's nose? To me the van is 'not of merchantable quality' and should be replaced or he be refunded, but at the moment they are making an offer that drops him £5K
