This is my range of digital Mitutoyos, also actually have another 0-150 set of the new style.

I have analogue Mitutoyo mic's from 0-50 right up to about 400 I think, don't use them much but always the odd occasion I need to mic something large.

This is the last pair I bought from the guy, never seen him listing any more Mitutoyo stuff except glass scales. These were purchased Dec 2017.

I bought a couple of the plastic dial calipers from Ebay, £5ish each IIRC. They are OK, I'd trust them to split a mm in two, not much more. They replaced my old plastic verniers which were going brittle with age.

If I need more accuracy I've got better dial calipers or micrometers.

Its dodgy buying mitutoyo off fleabay and the like now as there are so many fakes around. If you keep an eye out for starrett on ebay, they have a shop on there, and seel direct from Jedburgh. There is also another ebay seller based in Jedburgh that sells starrett tools and always states "in aid of charity". Starrett must give them tools to auction.

Are Quantumikes the type with the coarser thread to move faster?

Yes, I have a 0-1" it is the mutts. It was "free". Well almost, my boys asked me what I wanted for my birthday last year. They have cost me far more than that since. Not sure it was such a great deal after all.......

I got a cheap ebay one, lasted not very long. The replacement from Lidl has been going strong for a while - not much help though as you have to wait for them to come around.

Sign on the Aldi website for their on line shopping in their DIY section ..there might still be some on there . The come up on a regular basis.

They have auto shut off as well as a shut off button .
Change th battery as soon as you get them of one from a big supermarket where the battery turn over is rapid and new batteries are stocked not unknown aged ones of ebay or market stalls .
The batteries die in cold weather so if you are like me you might bring your digi in doors or keep it in a lightbulb heated cabinet .

The all metal looking one seem much better than the plastic ones . Repeatability in accuracy is not so hot if you are measuring every few seconds but once every ten seconds or more they seem accurate .

My 6" solar digimatic calipers were free. I was given a couple of crates of bits to store for a friend of a friend while he was out of work, I figured use of his tools could be payment. That was three years ago, I wonder if he's forgotten I've got them.

I have used the insize calipers and they seem good, not too expensive, but not cheap cack either.

How are they with batteries

Well I thought they would be terrible as there were about 6 spare batteries in the case!
But after perhaps a year I have yet to change them.
You need to be careful though - the extra batteries in the box can press down on the on/off button

I really am very impressed with the quality on these.
