One tip with the swarf wand, I put a rubber o ring around the tip. Without this you will find it’s constantly knocking on the lathe paintwork as you move it around.

I fitted a bit of 4" x 4" plastic to the carriage on my small lathe, being directly under the cutting tip, the majority of the swarf falls onto it. I then place a dustpan next to it and brush the whole lot off.

I guess a lot depends on the size of lathe/work involved, you guys that use bigger lathes probably end up with a lot more swarf hey.

I have used the Henry and air line on mine a few times but I usually stop regularly and clear whats on my plastic 'shelf' first.

likewise a henry and a paint brush cut short so stiffer bristles.

There has been a development concerning the cleaning, the help says the swarf is sharp (DUH!) not my problem as I have just had a manicure.
I may have to consider a auto swarf/chip conveyor, that or a thick pair of gloves! The swarf/chip conveyor comes with a guarantee at least.
Oh well, it is after all a slow Saturday night, no coup going on here.

After I clean most by scraping it onto a big shovel I just use an off cut of floor brush and a small shovel, same for the bandsaw, grinder etc.

Nowt wrong with that. With me, there's no suspect involved. On a slightly related note, I put one of my socket sets in the truck the other week, & when it came out to be used, I heard that line again: "Has that ever been used?". Honestly, I'm tempted to wear a placard stating: "I look after my tools".

I have a cheap but good Wolf ash vacuum cleaner that works really well.
