I like blacksmiths drills to use as countersinks, because you just keep sharpening them as they dull, so cost you very little over time
For all countersink fasteners I use pre set micro adjust countersink cages, last time I checked they were around 60-80quid each then you buy the countersink bits after that. Brilliant if you have to do a lot of repeat holes to the same countersink depth. Some of the aerospace guys might have a few on the bay with different sized countersinks
What size of blacksmith drill do you use in relation to the hole size you need to countersink; do you have any rule of thumb you go by?
it's grand for big stuff. I still use a proper countersink for smaller bolts, M6 etc. Sizing them has simply never even occurred to me. I've always just bought something that looks a good size to cover a range.
The angle of sharpening might need a tweak, depending on how precise you want to be.
Colloquially known as "vanmar" cages or microstops, you can get them far cheaper than that, skinpins will do you one for around £30 without bits.
